Takes Pictures at Point Reyes

——Photo Club Activity Report

On Saturday, August 18, 2007 the Elk Grove Chinese Association Photo Club organized a trip to the Point Reyes for members to take pictures of seashore scenes, especially the sunset at the famed lighthouse.

Fourteen people in three cars took off from the parking lot of the Safeway on Laguna Boulevard at noon. They drove south west to the California coastline. After more than three hours driving and a brief stop in Novato, they finally arrived at the Point Reyes National Seashore Park.

The first stop was the Point Reyes Beach South. The wind with cold air brought a different season of weather from Sacramento. Like the breath of the sea, the waves came and went. They rushed to the shore with a great force driven by the wind ; but the retreat was quiet with solitude. Kids, dogs, and their owners were chasing the water running back and force. Our photographers were busy setting up their equipment and taking shots. In focusing on his camera and viewfinder, member Yangdong Chen did not realized that the rising tide wet his shoes and pants.

The second stop was the Drakes Beach. The water here was peaceful because it is a bay surrounded by cliffs on three sides. There was a baby seagull lying on the beach. Kids, adults, and a park ranger were trying to usher it back.
