This year’s Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) Scholarship award ceremony was held on June 18, 2011 at the West Steps of California Capitol in Sacramento. There are four Elk Grove Chinese Association youth who received the scholarship.
Zane He graduated from Franklin High School in Elk Grove. He had been a member of the school’s Science Olympiad Team since sophomore year. In 2010, he won the first place in ecology and a first place in mousetrap vehicle in the California state tournament. Zane is also a member of Franklin High School Mathletes for four years. He participated in 2010 American Mathematics Competition 12 and scored the highest points among his teammates. In addition, Zane founded Franklin High School’s chess club and served as a president. Zane will attend Saint Louis University in Missouri and major in biology this fall.
Kaylin Huang graduated from Franklin High School in 2011. She was an avid part of Franklin High School’s Concert Choir. Kaylin will be attending University of California, Davis in the fall to study environmental science.
Wesley Su graduated from Franklin High School with a final GPA of 4.73. In high school, he was the Key Club President and a cabinet member of the student government. Wesley is also a member of the school’s swim team for four years and a member of the cross country team for two years. Wesley will be attending University of California, Los Angles in the fall majoring in political science.
Shengjia Zhou graduated from Franklin High School with honor. She played water polo for the school team and was a Most Valuable Defensive Player. She also received Scholar Athlete Award from the school. Shengjia will be attending University of Pacific this fall, majoring sports sciences with a concentration of sports medicine.
