Holiday Spirit The Tenth Elk Grove Chinese Association Children’s Performing Arts Show

The annual children’s talent show was held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, 2:30-5:00 p.m. at Elliott Ranch Elementary School in the Elk Grove Unified School District. Three Masters of Ceremony (MCs) Wanda He, Yiwen Liang, and Kaylin Huang introduced 26 programs participated by 44 young performers. This year’s programs had different variety: from playing traditional classical music instruments such as piano and violin to singing and dancing; from ballet to Chinese folk dancing; and from story telling to children’s created skit performed in Chinese (Mandarin). Some of the long term members in the audience recalled the past shows and gave this year’s program the best rating in terms of show variety, performance quality, and audience appreciation.

The opening was two songs by the Elk Grove Chinese Association’s choir under the directorship of Vice President Jianjun Chen. The highlight of the evening program was the skit titled I love my family, created by members. It reflected one of the Elk Grove Chinese Association’s goals, that is to live happily ever after in the big family.

Singing, dancing, and performing are part of many members’ passion and hobby. Good food and party are also part of Chinese culture of good living. It is through these activities that Elk Grove Chinese Association is building a big family for its members to live happily ever after.
